We are fortunate to be able able to use Cokethorpe School's campsite at the Grieves Outdoor Education Centre through our partnership with the school.
The Newbridge campsite is ideal for Scout camps. We are able to camp in a greenfield just far enough away from home and our base in Standlake that it feels like a real camp away.
The site is large enough that we can accommodate all our tents and tepees, mess tents and of course a large camp fire. The site is enclosed and far enough away from the road and river.
The campsite has access to the river Thames with a dedicated pontoon. This gives us safe access to the river and allows for the maximum time on the water. We launch our own canoes and kayaks from the pontoon and we can spend the day on the water embracing the Sea Scout life.
This site is classified as a Greenfield Site for the purposes of the Scout Permit Scheme. We have leaders qualified and with Greenfield Permits able to organise and run camps here and elsewhere.Â
All members of the Scouting Movement are eligible for our very own camp site blanket badge. This is free and given to you when you have completed your first camp at our site. If you are a visiting member from another group you will be able to purchase one.
The badge depicts the bridge across the river Thames as well as the images of Cokethorpe School and The Scout Association
